I MUST KNOW MORE!
I almost bought a Gran Torino Sport with a 400m V8 before I found the Montego.

this is a 1973 Gran Torino Sport with a 351C 4bbl Q-code with original Int. Paint was redone 20 years ago along with the engine rebuilt but its the original block to the car.

Sounds nice.
I have zero knowledge of your cars/experience so if this part sounds stupid I apologize.
Check them torque boxes!

Also, jealous of a 351C.
My 302 wishes it was C based.

hmm 73 with a 351C....C6? wouldn't have the C4 on a 351C would it?
I have the 302 Windsor, typical 5.0 with a C4 column shift.

More parts, but better power from the 351C.
Definitely more parts for the W. Definitely. I like being able to put 289, 302, and 351 parts on my motor interchangeable.

Perfect.
This was my dad's old Torino drag car when I was a kid, broke into the 11's with a 351C and I believe a C4 trans (it was very well built one though, specific for the strip).

The Windsor can get more in the long fun though the Cleveland is very limited

I believe it's a 70, unfortunately he had to sell it when I was about 5 or 6, to which I was of course heartbroken, but as always it was for the right reasons.
He is really detailed with his engine builds and actually only ran about a 500 or 550 cfm carb on it. He had a 750 once but he felt it was drowning the motor. he actually feels that the 400 cfm 4 brl on my 302 is too much fuel for it (that one I said your nuts I'm putting it on!). So basically. Well built 351C, 5-550 cfm 4 barrel, big ass air scoop lol, c6 trans, race fuel, straight headers exhaust, 11's at the strip.
I was looking for a Torino to buy when I stumbled upon the Montego. Mine also happens to be red. I'm kind of obsessed with the Torino/Montego combination now...if you hadn't noticed.

What do you mean well built? Cause I know the only difference between a 351C from 70-73 is they changed the compression in 73. My Torino is a quick little sob and ya your mercury can be made to boss 302 specs as well

I unfortunately don't have all the details of the drag car build due to my age at the time, but I do know it was a beast.
By well built I really mean detail oriented and well balanced. He always is smart about his upgrades and makes small increases/upgrades in all areas instead of a couple huge bolt on upgrades. Just smart builds. You know, some guys will bolt a super charger on to a motor and not worry about the internals- bad build.
I've always loved the Clevelands, I think they are tough, great motors and I would actually pick one over the Windsor, but that's just me and honestly it's been a internal Ford battle for a long time. I feel it's almost like Ford vs Chevy, but inside Ford!
